This book is a compilation of memories that span a lifetime. A few are quite remarkable; most are of the "everyday" ilk that, for one reason or another, struck me as special. Some are not warm fuzzies, but rather cold clammies. Memories, after all, are not limited to positive. Sometimes chicken soup is prepared with a package of Ramen noodles...None of my memories (except "Gabe," which was printed in BirdTalk magazine) were put to paper until after I became a widow. Shortly after losing my husband of 32 years, while still raising two of my children, I heard a speaker say: "Once you have experienced an earthquake, you will never be quite sure of the ground again." My writing helped me emotionally through a very shaky time, to be sure. But how happy I am, now, that I can attest to the truth in the bible verse that states: "Weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning."It is with an attitude of gratitude that I share my memories. I have a greater appreciation now, after my earthquake, for God, for love, for humor and joy. Hopefully, all of those can be found in these pages.
