"MANGOES by the BUSHEL" ' 'Mangoes by the Bushel' is the story of a tiny Island the Caribbean called St. Augustine that was struck full force by the "Hurricane of the Century!" Recently separated from ties with England, the Island was expected to be the last place to recover... and yet... it was the First! "Hugo" a Category 5 hurricane, struck the Caribbean full-force, at Puerto Rico and cut a swath of total devastation across the northern Caribbean, the coast of Florida and the Carolinas; flattening homes,, flipping over automobiles and destroying hundreds of miles of Coastline and infrastructure! Isolated in the backwards of time and global influence, St. Augustine was destined to be the last place to recover! And yet the people of St. Augustine relying solely upon their personal skills, and most of all a communal sense of concern for each other, was the first! "Mangoes by the Bushel" is this story.
