Excerpt from Cooperative Economic Insect Report, Vol. 5: December 23, 1955 Greater than normal amounts of snow are indicated in the northern third of the nation from the Great Lakes westward to the Pacific coast. Rainfall is expected to be above normal along the West Coast and below normal in the East. Subnormal precipitation is indicated in the southern half of the country, except near normal in the Tennessee Valley and along the Gulf Coast.
