This book charts the history of the Organization over the last fifty years, providing a broad overview of IOM's origins, development and programmes and the context in which it was working. It illustrates how adaptable the Organization has been, both in terms of geographical scope and breadth of activity, and how the increasing volume, complexity and pace of change in migratory patterns have challenged governments and societies, particularly in recent years.
