When you are lost, you are not free. How do you fairly judge the lost? How does one grasp the reigns and steer things back from anarchy and chaos? You must establish order. You must establish trust, but before all of this, we must have self-accountability. TRULY, my wandering stopped when I TRULY looked in the mirror and saw my TRUE reflection. For ME, admitting my flaws, my lies, and my faults 100% strangely took some pressure off and allowed me to (for the first time in my life) TRULY LOVE MYSELF. Once I cleared out the smoke of self-hate, guilt and anxiety from my mind I was able to fully embrace my strengths as a person. It was only then with a clean, pure and focused mind that I was able to fully be comfortable with myself. Not only am I more comfortable with myself, I am WAY better at holding myself accountable. Every year, when students ask me to sign their yearbooks, one of the things I ALWAYS write is, “Always stay true to yourself.”. It is advice I was good at giving, but until recently, not very good at taking.
