At the edge of the vast desert known as the Wasteland stands a city built like a fort. South Fork is a mecca for trade on this world, an intersection where three roads meet. It has been less than a month since EDWIN, a young half-elf, has left his forest home. The home of his birth, where he watched his human father grow old and die while he himself remained young. Arriving in South Fork, he is searching for a safe place in a city of thieves. As an outsider, he is quickly targeted. The only thing of value Edwin possesses is his legendary sword, which had once belonged to his Elven mother. It was all he had to remember her by. She had died while he was still a boy. Edwin is completely unaware of the blade’s provenance. His father had taught him how to defend himself from Orcs, but humans didn’t screamed when they died. Like he did when his mother died. When confronted by thieves Edwin doubts himself, but an unnoticed figure saves Edwin. RAVEN brings Edwin to a tavern, Griffon’s Claw, to meet with his compatriots. A trio of outcasts who regale Edwin with their stories of how they came to be. HAIRLOOM, a Minotaur who was raised as a slave by Humans. He doesn't know his own kind. When he discovers that they're slavers, he comes to hate them. MIRAGE, a mage, is Hairloom's friend. They were slaves together in gladiatorial games. Mirage was able to call forth a cyclone of flame from his twisted, burnt right arm to blast their way to freedom. Mirage seeks the answer to simple, why did his parent sell into slavery. A question that can’t be answered, and the world will burn in his vengeance. There is a mysterious Elf, WHISPER, a woman disguised as a man. Whisper tells Edwin of heroic deeds full of half-truths. Stories stolen from her targets. As an assassin, she has a history of thriving purlieus on the edge of a troubled society in fallen lands. Edwin has never planned to join a group on his journey to see the world, these strangers feel welcoming. All have
