When her 10 year old half-brothers go missing, strange footprints and weird chatter the only clues, 14 year old Bethany learns the truth about Grandma Rebecca's mysterious past. Together they step beyond the King Tree and into the Four Lands. To get her brothers back, Bethany must seek the blessing of the four altars thereby awakening the Knowing in her. Only then will she be able to undo the dark spell woven over the lands and confront the Council. Joined unexpectedly by Dennis and Scottie, two neighborhood friends, and the Welf Red Leaf, she starts out on her journey, only to discover along the way that things are not as she was led to believe and betrayal often comes from those you least expect.
