Prices received by farmers fer hogs in September 1949, for example, were 27 percent lower than a year earlier, yet the heg-corn price ratio was compared with a long-time average for the month of approximately 12. The lower prices are still favorable, and are expected to encourage an expansion of livestock production in 1950.
