Years of war and terror, the backdrop for man’s greatest inhumanity to his fellow man, and yet, years filled with individual bravery and heroism. Each person was called on to make a personal decision, and many answered that call at enormous personal cost but with dignity and conviction. These are the stories of but a handful of the giants who carried humanity on their shoulders… Mary Burkett is an ordinary person called to extraordinary circumstance. Through her work, the world has come to know the Beloved: Children of the Holocaust and Beloved: 10,000, collections of fine art portraiture of precious lives wiped out by hatred and bigotry. In the course of her research into the Beloved, Mary began to find little-known stories of personal sacrifice and heroism during the WWII/Holocaust era. Her “stories” are read by tens of thousands of people each week through social media and now are available for the first time in book form. It is Mary’s hope that The Little Book of Heroes will inspire a new generation to stand for the dignity and worth of all mankind.
