
Excerpt from The Lehigh Alumni Bulletin, Vol. 25: June-July, 1938 Two years ago at the Alumni Meet ing by a unanimous vote it was de cided to aid the University in financing a new wing to the William H. Chand ler Chemistry Laboratory. The alumni agreed to furnish the which it was estimated the building would cost, leaving to the University the financing of the equipment, landscaping, archi tects' fees, etc. It was thought that two years would be sufficient to raise this plus about additional needed for the normal expenses of the Alumni Fund and the regular annual subsidy to the Alumni Association. In the Fall of 1936 when the plans for the new wing were completed it became evident that to build a wing with adequate facilities would cost about more than the original guess. The Alumni Association Dirce tors took on this added feeling that if it could not be raised in two years it certainly could be raised in three.
