The biblical book of Genesis records the beginnings of everything. And has generated discussions and arguments since the time it was first written. This series of books does not skate over those differences. But neither does it seek to definitively answer them. John does not want to add another academic study in his writing. Instead, he seeks to apply the biblical narrative to today's world, making it relevant. This is the second book in a trilogy. The first book considered the beginnings of the world and civilisations to the time of Noah and the great flood. This second part sees the beginnings of God's plan to redeem the world. We see Israel's place in that plan. But we also see our own calling and purpose in God's destiny for us. Abraham began life in a city where moon worship was the accepted religion. And he probably worshipped the moon with everyone else. But God called him to become a man of faith. And used two promises to equip Abraham with the faith he needed. If Abraham followed God, God would give him the land and a son. As we follow Abraham's life we find that he had many challenges. He made many mistakes. But experienced God through those mistakes. And despite his failings, Abraham became a man of faith. And he was changed into the likeness of Christ. Today, we experience similar challenges. And will become men and women of faith as we respond to them effectively. Isaac followed in Abraham's footsteps. He made similar mistakes. But received an inheritance because of Abraham's faith. This book explains how we can receive our spiritual inheritance and be changed into the likeness of Christ.
