
Chinese Cooking for Americans - the purpose of this book is 2-fold. First, so many people enjoy eating Chinese food, but they don’t understand how easy it is to make, so I wanted to demonstrate the techniques used in producing them so everyone can enjoy using it at home. Second, I wanted to show you the exact ingredients that are used in each of the recipes to make it easier for you to find when you go looking for them in regular or specialty stores. The most challenging thing in cooking a foreign cuisine is to find the exact ingredients. It is always overwhelming to go to the grocery store to look for unfamiliar items. Another challenge is to follow complex recipes making it no fun for the cook to prepare. Caroline believes the key of learning to cook is to understand the basic theory. This cookbook provides the basic cooking skills with minimum ingredients to produce the best product. Caroline’s cooking class students were able to reproduce the recipes presented here and serve their family and friends. Their cooking received the highest compliments from their guests. This cookbook includes basic cooking techniques and a detailed glossary list of tools and ingredients with photos. Also the ingredients with photos are attached to each recipe. Most of the ingredients can be found in regular grocery stores. A few special ingredients can be found in Asian grocery/specialty stores. The goal of this cookbook is encourage people to learn the basic theory and be able to create their own dishes in the future. We hope you have as much fun cooking these recipes as much as we did in making this book.
