This memoir is about the life of the Tatar diaspora in Semirechie (Alma-Aty, Taldy-Kurgan, Dzharkent) and contiguous Chinese territory. G. Karmysheva (1888-1971) found herself with six children in exile in Central Asia when her family was "raskulachena", and was forced to migrate from the place of her birth. This book is about preserving the Tatar cultural heritage, the relations with other ethnic groups in their new home, the traditions, material and spiritual culture of their neighbors. The memoirs of G. Karmysheva are supplemented by memoirs of her father and other members of her family. Index and dictionary of local words and expressions.
