This guide investigates the vast, often overlooked landscape of low-budget and obscure genre cinema to provide a comprehensive catalog for collectors and enthusiasts. L. A. Morse draws upon an extensive viewing history to categorize and evaluate over five hundred films, focusing on the monster, horror, slasher, and fantasy adventure subgenres. The book functions as a critical taxonomy, offering readers a structured framework to navigate the chaotic and often inaccessible world of direct-to-video and B-movie releases.

The subject matter points to a specialized reference text intended for collectors and enthusiasts of cult and exploitation cinema. The framing suggests a practical, opinionated guide that prioritizes accessibility and breadth over academic rigor.
