Matthew is obsessed with Nathaniel Shawcrosse, an engimatic 17th century alchemist. While writting his biography Matthew is visited by Nathaniel's mistress, Isabel. Isabel is banished by Matthew's fiancee but soon returns in the body of Josie. She begins to persue Matthew.
