In this alternate timeline, Russia conquered all of Europe in World War II. Now, America itself is on the verge of being conquered, too. A team of scientists have developed the technology to send a modern Army unit back in time to a critical battle in World War II. If they can stop the Russians there, it is hoped, Europe will be saved and the Russians will never be in a position to conquer the United States. The time jump is successful and battle is engaged between modern American tanks, artillery, helicopters, and infantry against Russia's World War II weapons at the battle of Kursk. The war is also being fought in the hearts and minds of the soldiers. In the midst of battle, there is the ongoing torment of the loss of a loved one and the joy of love found. The clash of worldviews -- Christian, secular humanism and communism -- are as much a part of the war as the clash of armies on the battlefield. Those who survive the war return to an America that is very different than the one they left. Yet some things are disturbingly the same.
