This work investigates the spiritual development and theological insights of Thérèse of Lisieux, a 19th-century Carmelite nun who sought a simple path to holiness. The author, writing under obedience to her superiors, details her childhood, her entry into the cloistered life, and her 'Little Way' of spiritual childhood. Her narrative serves as a primary theological document, outlining a philosophy of trust and love that emphasizes small, daily acts of devotion over grand gestures of piety.

This text is regarded as a foundational document in modern Catholic spirituality, widely studied for its psychological depth and theological clarity. The work is considered an essential primary source for understanding the life and influence of one of the most significant figures in 19th-century religious history.
