This book emphasizes decision making with Lotus 1-2-3, focusing primarily on Lotus 1-2-3 for DOS Release 2.3 software, but also pointing out the capabilities and enhancements of Lotus 1-2-3 for Windows. Each chapter includes step-by-step intructions with a self-paced, hands-on exercises, a problem solving project, and skill building activities. Chapter 1 defines a Decision Support System (DSS). Students then build each piece of a DSS (database, model base and user interface) while learning how to enhance decision making. Quality is emphasized throughout, with a Quality Assurance Checklist concluding each chapter, and good spreadsheet hygiene is taught with examples of error checking, consistency, validity and documentation. This text includes an integrated case study, illustrating the need for Lotus commands, and students apply "what-if" analyses to manipulate and gain insight into the different types of data.
