Brann, a former galley slave, must reclaim his identity and seek revenge after being re-enslaved and forced into brutal fighting pits. Alongside Lord Einarr, Brann travels to the Empire's capital to expose Loku's dangerous cult to the Emperor. However, Loku has already corrupted the Emperor, leading to Brann's capture and subsequent enslavement in the subterranean fighting pits, a place where survival often means the loss of one's spirit.
