Menrva's Summary
THE PULSE
Lucy Jacobs, a recently redundant inner-city teacher, finds herself reluctantly taking a position at a remote village school, a stark contrast to her expectations of urban challenge. Faced with a lack of 'disadvantaged kids' and a perceived absence of professional stimulation, Lucy must navigate the unexpected realities of rural education, including classroom frogs and a difficult donkey. Simultaneously, she encounters Charlie Davenport, a brooding local vet whose private life is already the subject of village gossip, and who is wary of any entanglement with the new teacher. As the summer progresses, the idyllic setting of Langtry Meadows begins to work its charm, offering both Lucy and Charlie a chance for a fresh start, potentially together.
