"The texts here published are the outcome of recent research on art in Brazil in the 19th century and early 20th centuries. The authors have as starting point the available perspective to see what is in the artworks. From there, they present new approaches on the teaching of art at the Academy, the exhibition ways, the formations of collections and the expertise of artists [] Before being gathered for this publication, these papers were presented at the seminar of the Museu D.
