In Jane Austen's novel, Emma, there is a scene where Emma is holding her namesake, little Emma Knightley. Mr. Knightley had been irritated with Emma Woodhouse for her persuading Harriet Smith into refusing Robert Martin's proposal of marriage. However, when Mr. Knightley sees Emma holding their mutual niece, his heart melts and he finds he cannot stay angry with her. They are friends once again.This novel tells the story of that baby girl, Emma Knightley. Her life is revealed in a journal she writes for her granddaughter, another Emma. During her life, Emma Knightley meets characters from other Jane Austen novels. Special Austen characters are the great grandparents of Emma's granddaughter. Read to find out whom!
