
Memoirs of a Polish Jew, born in 1920 in Krakow, the son of a well-known Jagiellonian University professor, Rafal Taubenschlag. He lived in Krakow on "Aryan" papers under the name of Stanislaw Kozlowski. He was arrested in 1942 by the Gestapo and held in prison as a hostage; he was later sent to Auschwitz as a Pole. In March 1943 he left Auschwitz for Buchenwald on his own will. After the war he settled in France.
