This book investigates the efficacy and socio-economic constraints of the Irish state's long-term strategy to revitalize the Irish language following independence. Pádraig Ó Riagáin, a researcher specializing in language planning, utilizes longitudinal data from language surveys conducted between 1973 and 1993 to evaluate the process of bilingual reproduction. He argues that language policy outcomes are inextricably linked to the broader structural development of the Irish economy and social networks.
