Excerpt from Greek Bronzes The methods of bronze-casting in Egypt in graeco-roman times are better illustrated by the moulds than by the bronzes. I have discussed this question in the Introduction to the former volume. Most of the bronzes described in the present catalogue were probably made in the way of which the preliminary stages are exemplified by the plaster moulds. Indeed although no bronze in our collection appears to have been made by means of one of the extant moulds, it is probable enough that several of them come from the same factories as the latter.
