Gorden Mathias was a recent graduate of Purdue with a BS in Material Science; he moved out west to the LA Basin to work for Northrup Grumman at their Space Park campus in Redondo Beach. He had some background in composite materials, glass, graphite and Kevlar fabrics impregnated with epoxy resin; he was hired to build hovercraft, electric vertical take-off and landing or eVTOL aircraft. He got drafted to examine premixed and frozen epoxy film adhesives. The use of the newer adhesive material got him some kudos in the microelectronics manufacturing segment. He met a young woman who turned out to be an FBI field agent, Rayleigh Harmon; he helped her shoot and kill a gunman who decided to punish her for arresting his goons. They gravitated towards each other to build a life together.
