The Booklet Despite the capability of some modern airliners to reproduce to passengers previously recorded messages regarding the phases of a flight, there are situations in which all that automation is of little use or not available, thus requiring from the captain (or from the one s/he designates to) the "ancient duty" to keep passengers informed during the time they remain embarked. So considering, this booklet comes as a blueprint on how to briefly and effectively address passengers and cabin crew throughout the flight. The 149 examples presented in this material, including topics such as routine announcements, delays, disembarkation, emergencies and many others, may not cover all thinkable situations that could occur in real life, nevertheless they are quite consistent with what a flight crew may encounter on daily bases. Furthermore, the patterns for addressing passengers and cabin crew here exemplified can easily be adapted to any circumstance imaginable. In this booklet you will find examples of speech first in Portuguese and then, mirrored on the opposite page, their equivalent in English. Those announcements can be either learnt by heart or read out loud from the book whenever needed or required. They can also be easily modified as shown.
