This is the second book in the series on the Russian ancient history from the 8th to 13th centuries. The first is Etnicheskaia i Evoliutsionnaia Predistoriia Rusi: Ory, Ossy, Kimery, Khory, Rus' (2000). The author attempts to depart from the traditional concept of Russian history as a history of states and kingdoms in favor of a history of ethnic cultures. His approach to reconstructing the language of Russian predecessors is based on studying toponymics and ethnonymes in the area near the Black Sea and Central Asia. Combining these results with the findings of archaeology and ancient literature allowed him to reconstruct the main events and milestones of that period, to create a revised chronological picture of old ethnic cultures in their sequence and relations with other ethnicities, to identify the structure of the tribes and peoples later called the Huns, as well as to describe the principles the Russian language is based on.
