From the book's Contents "These reflections on human personality are rooted in three sources of observation and the clinic, the life story, the assessment method. The struggle of contraries and dualities in human nature is seen as a fruitful source of growth. The perspective is that of contemporary humanistic psychology, anchored in the early twentieth century theories of pragmatism, gestalt psychology, and creative evolution. This gives a central place to the philosophy of values and of moral development, considered scientifically, and makes choice the decisive factor in growth and evolution.
