Menrva's Summary
THE PULSE
A young woman's love for a humble sailor is threatened by the rigid social hierarchy of the Royal Navy. Captain Corcoran's daughter, Josephine, is betrothed to the Right Honourable Sir Joseph Porter, the First Lord of the Admiralty, but her heart belongs to Ralph Rackstraw, a common sailor. Their forbidden romance unfolds against a backdrop of class distinctions and satirical commentary on the British naval establishment, complicated by the machims of the villainous Dick Deadeye and the meddling of the First Lord himself.
