Exist-tense is the collection of fragments of a suffering mind, but also the means by which it survived. An amalgam of poems born Fall 2018, with no intent of ever being read, poems that were the only shape the stubborn tears took. Depression is a beast that bites but does not bark. It bleaches the days with a vast engulfing whiteness, often trivialized because “we all know we are going to die anyways”. We all did, at least once, think our feelings; but did you ever experience what it means to feel your thinking? Thought spirals devoured my days and centrifuged my moments into oblivion. Fall 2018 taught me: you do not choose what you think about. But I stayed, until it got better, and eventually it did. It did get better. It does get better.
