From the early disciples, to the Desert Fathers, to the rise of the monastic life there is a path well traveled. There also have been solitary seekers and Christian mystics that have walked this Royal Road in search of union with God, spiritual perfection, and peace. Their work, thoughts, and methods are not lost to us. They can be found in their writings left to be found and, hopefully, put into practice, as best we can according to our state in life.This is the first volume of what we hope will be many on "Thoughts on the Spiritual Life." It is from the work of Thomas Kempis, "The Sermons to the Novices Regular" abridged and reimagined for modern readers.
