Shirley Ann grew up on a former slave plantation in a small Texas town where the owner has been making weekly visits to her bed since she was fourteen years old. Shirley Ann had always dreamed of living in the big city, but knew her dream would never come true in the small town of Oklaunion. Driven by desperation, Shirley Ann did the unthinkable to live in Houston where she fell in love with a boy. He introduced her to a world she never knew existed, a world filled with adversity.
