Reveals that in the subtext of Jonson's prefatory poems to the 1623 Folio of Shake-speare's collected works that Jonson infers it is preposterous to believe William Shakespeare of Stratford-on-Avon actually wrote the plays universally attributed to him. In fact, the author argues, Jonson probably headed a counter-conspiracy to undermine the Stratford Shakespeare's claim to authorship laurels; instead, in his Folio poems, Jonson covertly offers to us Edward de Vere, the 17th Earl of Oxford, as the true author of the works of Shake-speare.
