The G.K. Hall "Bibliographic Guide to Music" lists recent publications cataloged during the past year by The New York Public Library with additional entries from Library of Congress MARC tapes. It also serves in part as an annual supplement to the "Dictionary Catalog of the Music Collection," The Research Libraries of The New York Public Library (G.K. Hall & Co., 1964; "Cumulative Supplement," 1973). The Music Division's holdings cover virtually all musical subjects, and the scores represent the broadest spectrum of musical style and history. Particular strengths of the Division's collections are folk songs, eighteenth- and nineteenth-century librettos, full scores of operas, complete works, historical editions, Beethoven, Americana, periodicals, vocal music, literature on the voice, programs, record catalogs, and manuscripts. All titles from the Music Division designated by the literary form code, Music, are in this "Guide. " Materials selected from LC MARC tapes cover such areas as literature of music (bibliography, history and criticism, philosophy of music) and music instruction and study (composition, orchestration, singing and voice culture). Selection of titles from MARC tapes is based on the LC classification M.
