Set in the midst of the horrors of the Second World War, the author of Forgive Us Our Trespasses invites us to share the experiences and struggles of Pieter Droost a young Dutch accountant, as he strives for inner peace and contentment. We share not only his joy and the fulfilment of pure love in his relationship with Marie, but also his bitter hatred and soul destroying desire for revenge. We travel with him through the very depths of despair and hopelessness as he experiences the heartrending cruelties inflicted by man on his fellow human beings in the forced labour camps of war time Europe. As he struggles with his heavy burden of guilt, at last finding forgiveness and spiritual peace, we, like him find, ourselves questioning the very nature of sin, and ultimately its forgiveness. 'Forgive Us Our Trespasses' portrays how two men broke the Sixth Commandment - 'Thou Shalt Not Kill'- and the reckoning they had to face.
