Excerpt from Catalogue of a Fine Collection of American and Foreign Gold, Silver and Copper Coins and Medals: To Be Sold Without Reserve and Auction, by Messrs. Leavvit, at Clinton Hall, Astor Place, on the Evenings of Monday and Tuesday, December 9th and 10th, 1878, Commencing at Seven O'clock We wish to call particular attention to the fact that the coins in this collection are to be sold in the evening, instead of the afternoon, as usual. We have made this change for the convenience of gentle men who are unable to attend auctions held in the day time, thereby giving all an opportunity of purchasing, and also of seeing what they buy. The coins will be on exhibition throughout the day in the salesroom. In regard to the condition of the various pieces, we can assure intending purchasers at a distance that they have all been faithfully described, and in cases of the slightest.
