This community-based book draws from multiple sources to paint a picture of Hensall's transition from a rural community to a commuter village of around 800 people. Sources include maps and documents, church registers, school log books, and over 240 interviews with Hensall associated people. More than 80 authors have contributed articles and over 800 photographs are included. This book, which has taken 11 years to produce, will appeal to many people connected with the village and its locality. But it will also attract those interested in the transitions of village life; family historians searching for their forebears; social scientists interested in behaviours and fashion; and oral historians fascinated by the first-hand descriptions of daily life in this small but interesting community.
