CURRENT CONCERNS OF EDUCATION: Education is a most effective instrument for social and economic change which determines the level of prosperity, welfare and securities of the people. Education has always been concerned with the prediction of scholastic achievement or academic achievement of individuals. Generally academic achievement refers to the extent or degree of mastery in certain areas of studies. Hence it has to be relevant and it would be reflected through the academic achievement of the students. Globally, educating a nation remains the most vital strategy for the development of the society throughout the developing world (Aikman & Unterhalter, 2005). Many studies on human capital development concur that it is the human resources of a nation and not its capital or natural resources that ultimately determine the pace of its economic and social development. The principal institutional mechanism for developing human capital is the formal education system of primary, secondary, and tertiary training (Nsubuga, 2003). Achieving the Goals of education is contingent on specific needs that tend to vary from one country to the other as well as from time to time. Hence periodically several policies and procedures are being framed and implemented. Understanding of these policies, Indian/Foreign, would help in understanding the education system. The following section deliberates on some of the theories and policies.
