For each condition there is a list of preferred drugs and their dosages, some suggestions on diagnosis and prescribing, and timely information on the cost of drugs. The formulary closely parallels the World Health Organization list of essential drugs and is vital to the rational and economical prescription of drugs by general practitioners.
