This clever killer of at least five prostitutes managed to elude the police and after each slaying seemingly vanished into the London fog. How did he escape undetected so many times? The author, whose great grandmother Alice Kitts lived in Whitechapel and knew the Ripper's victims, discovers a journal of day-to-day events written at that time. The journal was passed down to Julie's 103 year old grandmother, and fascinating reading it makes indeed. Research into newspaper archives from that time corroborates the contents of the journal as the author pieces together evidence and answers the enduring question: who WAS Jack the Ripper?
