Included are a dozen rags, handpicked from the best and the best-known during the early twentieth century, when ragtime had become America’s first popular music. All of the scores included are based on the originals; very little has been changed. Chord symbols have been added: a practice not in vogue when these rags were first published. Many of you may be playing ragtime on guitars and banjos, perhaps working with bassists and small ensembles. Chord symbols are a big help in reading, improvising and transposing.
