
Mustafa Âlî stated that he wrote it in order to bring perfection to Muslim Historiography. According to the data in the book and the information obtained from other works of Mustafa Âlî, the writing of Künhü'l-Ahbâr was probably started in the winter of 1592. The manuscript copy of the work consists of approximately 1000 pages and four parts:[1] Phase I covers the history of prophets and dynasties from Adam to Joseph. Phase II covers the history of the prophets from Jesus to the prophet Muhammad, the first companions and VII. biographies of important figures of the 20th century, the life of the Twelve Imams, the history of the Persian and Ptolemaic dynasties. Phase III covers the history of many Muslim dynasties, including the Umayyads and Abbasids. Phase IV covers the Ottoman history from the beginning to the 1596 Eğri campaign. In this last section, there are also long biographies of statesmen, scholars and poets, separate sections about the origin of the Ottoman Dynasty, their ethnology and the situation of their rulers.
