This year your child will be using the Handwriting for Christian Schools program, which features a unique style of writing developed by Bob Jones University Press. During the first months of school, he will review the PreCursive alphabet. This alphabet incorporates the slant and many of the letter forms of the cursive alphabet. Most of the letters are made with one stroke, which eliminates mid letter choices and reduces reversals. After your child has mastered the PreCursive style of writing, he will learn to write the cursive alphabet. Handwriting for Christian Schools greatly simplifies the problems inherent in the transition from manuscript to cursive letters. When beginning cursive writing, your child will learn one additional stroke -- a cursive stroke -- that will enable him to change most PreCursive letters to cursive letters. Thus, he will not have to learn fifty-two new letters. --
