James Arneson, Jr., known as JJ, follows in his father's footsteps and joins the Royal Air Force, flying Spitfires for 41 Squadron. Just as the war begins, he meets Helen Grace Cartwright, a feisty Yorkshire lass with a mind all her own. As the war heats up, JJ fights in the Battle of Britain and Helen joins the Women's Royal Naval Service to do her part. Will JJ and Helen find love in all the chaos, or will they be swept away by the tides of war?
