This is the laboratory manual used in the freshman chemistry laboratory course at Nicholls State University. This printed copy is provided as a convenience to the students. A free pdf version is available from the author. This book may be used as the laboratory notebook. Instead of submitting duplicates of notebook pages, students can transcribe data and observations recorded in their laboratory notebook to one-sheet forms for submission immediately after the lab so that students can keep their notebook and refer to it for data analysis after class. To facilitate grading, lab reports for experiments in this book can be submitted to chem21labs.com (student access fee required) for mostly-automated grading. To prepare students for some experiments, interactive video-enhanced review quizzes on pre-requisite material are available for use in Moodle. An extensive question bank is also available for administering post-lab quizzes and drills through Moodle. For links to the pdf version and one-sheet forms, please contact the author at glenn.lo@nicholls.edu. The experiments described in this book are intended for use in an instructional setting where students are supervised by a competent instructor and standard laboratory safety rules are enforced.
