About the Author Mac Donald Dixon is a Caribbean Writer, born on the Island of Saint Lucia. He has been actively involved with the arts, particularly the theatre from the early sixties. His first collection of poems Pebbles was published in 1973 and royalties were donated to the Government of Saint Lucia towards a National Theatre. His work has appeared in several periodicals and anthologies including Agenda, Bim Magazine, Callaloo, Caribbean Quarterly, Caribbean Writer and Wasafari. Also published are two novels, Season of Mist and Misbegotten, and a collection of short Stories - Careme. Dixon's main philosophy is to recreate a history of the legends and myths of his people so that generations of Saint Lucian writers, living and in the future, will find a platform as intricate and beautiful as their island home from which to launch their chef d'oeuvres. For without a written history, inspiration can be a lost cause and the people's literature becomes a mirage that fails to blossom even on fertile ground.
