Annie Lund has no idea of what a normal family is like. Her life at home is hell and she has no way of knowing that the worst is yet to come. Having been told that she is the daughter of her own sister, Annie decides to walk into the Mojave Desert and never come back. But in the dark of night a meadowlark trills its warbling tune and Annie realizes the desert does not want her as a sacrifice. She decides to live and to fight her abusive past and future. She decides that the cycle of abuse must stop. Her heart is set on finding a real family where abuse is not allowed. Can she hold tight to her dream to find real love and a real family? Annie is strong, defiant, and she has some help from the other Whipped Pups of Bitterbrush.
