The first volume contains maps made between the Warring States Period (475-221 BC) and the Yuan Dynasty (1280-1368); this volume includes maps drawn in the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644); and the third volume deals with maps of the early and middle Qing Dynasty (1644-1840). This volume covers a total of 248 maps falling into 68 categories. The plates in the atlas are arranged in chronological order, with colored maps, maps in black ink, and maps engraved on stones being placed before block-printed ones.
