This work investigates the narrative of Nujeen Mustafa, a Kurdish teenager with cerebral palsy, through the medium of a five-movement cantata. Composer Cecilia McDowall and librettist Kevin Crossley-Holland adapt the biographical account of Mustafa's flight from Aleppo to Europe to explore themes of resilience and human endurance.
